Saša Sokolov (1943) è da considerarsi uno degli scrittori più interessanti del panorama russo contemporaneo. Sin dal suo esordio con il romanzo Škola dlja durakov (1976) pubblicato in Italia con il titolo La scuola degli sciocchi (Salani), emerge la sua capacità di modellare la lingua russa e di creare una narrazione strutturalmente complessa, priva di una trama e di una cronologia di eventi definita. L’elemento principale che salta all’occhio di ogni lettore è la lingua utilizzata, ricca di artifici e giochi linguistici. Sokolov si distingue infatti per il suo stile innovativo e per come costruisce la propria narrativa, che rendono i suoi romanzi estremamente affascinanti. In particolare le opere successive a La scuola degli sciocchi, Meždu sobakoj i volkom (1980) e Palissandreide (Palisandrija, 1985), si presentano ormai come opere tipiche del mainstream postmodernista.
